New Delhi, August 27 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a significant conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. This call came shortly after Modi’s visit to Kyiv, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Insights from Kyiv: Modi and Putin’s Discussion

During the call, Modi and Putin discussed strengthening the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia. Modi shared detailed insights from his recent visit to Ukraine, where he emphasized India’s stance on the conflict. He reiterated that India is firmly on the side of peace, stating, “We are not neutral. From the very beginning, we have chosen the side of peace.”

Modi’s Recent Diplomatic Efforts

In addition to the recent conversation, Modi had visited Moscow last month and met with Putin. During that visit, he urged the Russian leader to move towards dialogue rather than relying on military solutions. Modi has consistently advocated for respecting national sovereignty and seeking peaceful resolutions to conflicts.

The Ongoing Russia-Ukraine War

The Russia-Ukraine conflict remains intense, with no immediate end in sight. Recent attacks by Russia have caused significant damage and casualties across Ukraine. On Monday, Russian strikes led to fires and deaths in Kryvyi Rih, a city in southern Ukraine. In the Kyiv region, air defenses managed to intercept most of the incoming threats, but falling debris caused additional damage and blackouts.

India’s Role in Seeking Peace

Modi’s recent statements highlight India’s commitment to promoting diplomatic solutions and peaceful negotiations. As the conflict continues to impact lives and infrastructure, India maintains its position of advocating for a peaceful and diplomatic resolution.
